Leafy Greens: The Magic Cure

What is the main reason I’m writing this article? Two words: Toxic Build-Up.
Toxic build-up is when the digestive system is so backed up that fermentation starts to occur inside of the GI tract which can lead to inflammation and disease.
Eating fermented foods is one thing, but unwanted fermentation due to a high-processed food diet is what I’m talking about; this is affecting millions of people today.
These things can show up as but are not limited to: skin disorders like eczema and rashes, IBS or other digestive problems, joint problems, brain fog, depression, mood swings, anxiety, headaches, hair loss, low energy, and more serious things like cancer.

Unwanted fermentation in the gut is no good, this can lead to inflammation.
It’s basically like the food is rotting inside of you and that can be damaging to your body, especially over time.

When you think about digestion, you probably don’t think about the hundreds of mechanisms and actions that are going on every minute.
Fun fact: There is an entire ecosystem living in your gut.
Trillions of cells are housed within your GI Tract (gastrointestinal tract) not only to help you digest food but also to regulate emotions, build the immune system and keep your skin clear. Thousands of tasks are completed by your digestive system every day without your awareness!

The Answer: Leafy Greens

What are leafy greens?

Leafy greens are the soft, edible leaves that grow in abundance; found on many fruits and vegetables.
Raw and fresh is best. Cooked greens also give essential nutrients and are healthy to eat lightly steamed or sauteed ~
All greens–especially darker greens contain high levels of magnesium, vitamin a, c, k, folate, iron, potassium, and calcium! We need all of these daily to keep our bodies healthy and balanced.

Why are greens so important to have in the daily diet?

Within 24-48 of eating greens, you can actually see significant changes happen in your digestion.

Leafy greens are key to moving the toxicity out of the body. Leafy green vegetables and also fruits are high in fiber. Fiber is insoluble and since our digestive system can’t absorb that type of fiber, it grabs what it can and helps to move what’s stuck through the GI tract.
When you add herbs to leafy greens can amplify the digestion process and actually add more nutrients in your body as the other process helps to take out the bad stuff. An example of this is ex. Cilantro or parsley in your salad; these herbs are high in vitamins and minerals which can help break down the toxic-build up in the body!

Edible herbs assist the body in building up new cells while helping to break down the old.

  1. […] Now, this has to be a given, yet there are so many people who still don’t consume leafyย greens. When I hear the word salad, I too cringe, but it’s not the end of the world. Salad is not the only way to consume leafy greens ๐Ÿฅ—ย . You can put spinach, kale and even lettuce in your smoothies (throw an herb in there too). Make 13-minute kale chips when you’re bored at home after work or on the weekends. Chop up a few different greens up and throw them in any dish, especially pasta.Read: Leafy Greens, the Magic Cure Articleย  […]
