As it gets colder outside it’s the perfect time to address how important it is to keep our immune systems top-notch. During fall and winter especially, we may be more susceptible to getting sick. The best way to take care of your immune system is with detox-like herbs. They not only remove heavy metals from the body but add essential nutrients that your body needs to fight disease and sickness. The herbs I’ve chosen for this Medicinal Herbal Pestro are easily found in grocery stores around the world. Not only that, but I’ve found it extremely cost-effective to make this recipe every week!

This recipe is to be best enjoyed mixed in a salad as a dressing, and can be used as a dip. I especially enjoy it a slice of bread or morning bagel. Equipment

  • blender
  • OR Food Processor

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Bundle Fresh Basil or up to 2 cups chopped
  • 1 Bundle Fresh Cilantro or up to 2 cups chopped
  • 1 Bundle Fresh Parsley or up to 2 cups chopped
  • 1/2 Bundle Fresh Dandelion Greens or up to 1 cups chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 4 Cloves Fresh Garlic
  • 1/4 Cup Nutritional Yeast / Vegan Parmesean cheese
  • 1/2 Cup Walnuts or Almonds (soaked) or Pine nuts
  • 1/4 Cup Olive Oil

Instructions
 

  • Wash & roughly chop all fresh herbs, placing them in the blender or food processor.
    Add water and lemon juice to a blender or food processor.
    Add nuts, garlic, salt, and nutritional yeast or vegan parmesan cheese.
    Start to Blend/Process on medium-high.
    Add in oil slowly while the mixture is blending until desired consistency is achieved.
    Taste ~ Add anything else that suits you
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator ~ Lasts 5-7 days
